2011 ended on a sour note with the restaurant Shut Up and Eat's owner. We made a deal to run art shows on the rear wall of her new place. I put the construction supplies on my credit card and enlisted Larry Homer to build a nice peg-board wall. The premier was to ba an Art Continuity group show. All kinds of bullshit started with the owner, mind games and such
.
I ended up dragging a lot of my own paintings out of storage because she wouldn't let the wall go up unless artwork was ready to go on it immediately. My artwork sat on her office floor for more than a week while she jerked Larry around. I couldn't return the lumber, so I pushed forward. Kat Cuneo came and painted the wall white. I promised her the next show after mine.
The day I went to hang the work she pulled two pieces from the show on petty pretexts. She said my painting PARTNERS from 1984, with the pool players, was too sexual. I didn't like it, but I hung the watered-down show. Then the owner took my work down less than a month after I'd hung it and put up a show of somebody she chose, thereby screwing both me and Kat.
My next move after that brought me back to TRAC 81, which seemed to be reviving with new members joining.
These next few entries will be my last, chronologically on this blog, because it works backwards. I will continue making art until I am no longer able, and then others will pick up the baton.
